I received a couple of private messages tonight asking questions about copyright infringement on this page. Just to be clear, copyright is implied as soon as a piece of work is created. Copyright exists regardless of whether or not the piece of work is being reproduced for commercial, academic or non profit, private purposes. Registering copyright in Washington is optional and lack of registration does not mean a piece of work is public domain. Those who reproduce the work of others, without permission from the owner, risk both civil and criminal prosecution. Just because something is on pinterest or google images, does NOT mean the images fall into the public domain. In fact, pinterest is facing lawsuits of its own as a facilitator of IP infringement. The Little House arena is VERY litigious and I can name at least 4 lawsuits due to copyright, trademark or IP infringement. By posting anything that doesnt belong to you, you not only put yourself at risk, but Ellen, as the owner of the page who publishes these materials is also liable. I lived for 15 years with a man who worked in this area of the legal profession, so I know what I am talking about and would be happy to provide advice if necessary.
