I received a diploma today; I finished all 28 radiation therapy treatments today!! Five and a half weeks of going to Meridian every single week day are finally over! It has left me with some nasty radiation burns with blisters, redness, some black areas, raw spots, soreness, and, at times, intense pain. I have to do saline soaks and apply silver sulfadiazine, a wonderful soothing and healing balm. I am so grateful that I have only recently experienced this; I had gone through most of the treatments with fatigue being the only side effect. And I know that this pain and discomfort will soon pass. The family is all here and the house is filled with happy sounds which is very good medicine. The girls and I did some Christmas shopping yesterday and with Adams help we found some great deals at American Eagle. We had fun, but we were all bone tired when we got home last night. I did my Thanksgiving grocery shopping today at Wal-Mart and am so glad I dont have to go back there this week. It was almost like Christmas Eve shopping with so many people and so many empty shelves. Im so thankful that we have plenty of food and I can cook indoors and we are warm and have nice comfortable beds and we are able to be up and about. These are gifts that are so precious and often overlooked. I plan to savor these gifts this Thanksgiving.
