I received a message from a dear friend today who is navigating adoption, marriage, parenthood and just life in general. There was one part that stood out, spoke directly to my heart, and I wanted to share because I know it will speak to one (or many) of you. Ill let you in on a secret…Satan is the most attractive thing you have ever seen. Hes everything you think you want plus an ice cream sundae. He will mess with your mind more than any drug and can destroy you as you look on smiling. He will appeal to you, flatter you, give to you, build you up, lull you into false security, then stab you in the heart without hesitation. He is a liar and will just as easily tell you beautiful lies as he will big ugly ones. Satan has many masks. He doesnt present himself as the big bad scary guy making it an obvious choice for us to make. Each of us faces temptations, mistakes already made, and the guilt of those mistakes. He uses those things to bind us to him, to control us. But we rejoice in the power of our Father. He breaks those ties for us with the forgiveness and grace He extends freely and eagerly to ALL of His children. God already knows. When He sent His son He already knew. There is nothing you have done or will do that He is not prepared for. He sent His son to die for me and for you. Our sins are paid for. So when you feel your sins are just too big or your life is just too small....turn to Him! Lean into Him. He is a good Father that loves His children. He will never lie to you, fail you, or abandon you. You are safe in Him.
