I received a new iPhone 5s yesterday and here is my review compared to the iPhone 4s I am upgrading from. Pros: - Finger scanner is convenient and much better than typing in a four digit pass code each time. In terms of security, its questionable as I leave my finger prints all over the phone so most likely easy to hack into my phone if lost. - Going from 3G wireless to 4G LTE is noticeably faster. The processor is faster also so the response time has improved. - Have not played around with the improved camera yet but I hear its better with ability to do slow motion video. Cons: - Theres really only one complaint I had with my 4s and the complaint remains with the 5s - Battery life. A phone without a charged battery is completely useless. Realistically, a phone needs to work for a full day under regular use. I woke up at 4:40am today, started using my new phone from 5:10am listening to podcasts (mostly audio and some video), surfed the web, texted just a few lines, read email throughout the day and played some internet connected games on the commute back. Probably for a total use of 2-3 hours. The battery ran out of charge at 6:15pm before my train arrived home. I actually charged my phone at work for 15 minutes. The battery life is about the same as the 4s and totally not acceptable. I already ordered a backup battery which I will carry around separately. Apple needs to realize that they will continue to lose customers if they dont realize the importance of battery life over speed and looks.
