I received an email a couple months ago from a woman (a Rett mom) asking me for money to help her daughter. I ignored the email because it was bulk. A couple days ago I received another message from her reminding me that she was still in need of money and that I hadnt made a donation yet. I was a little surprised at the boldness of the reminder. I replied to her explaining the recent loss of our daughter, how sorry I was for her situation and the fact that I was not financially in a position to make a donation. When she replied back she told me that she knew all about Brianna. That she was sorry for my loss but she still needed money, then went on to say that she noticed my vacation to Mexico implying I could afford it. Ive been thinking about this a lot. To say the least, this bothered me. I cried, I was angry, I was hurt and offended. So my thought for tonight is.......The life that you live is your business. What you share with others is your choice. How you decide to deal with things is a personal choice and you should never have to be put in a position to explain yourself or justify things to others. Steve and I are not in a financial situation to be running off to Mexico. We are and will be paying for that choice for awhile. The choice we made to take that trip is one that I dont regret. It was not the destination, it was the escape from the horrible reality we face at home. People are so quick to judge. So quick to assume the worst and to find the negative in others. It made me sad but also opened my eyes. I will definitely think twice before I jump to conclusions or judge others for the choices that they make in life.
