I received an update from IEA today released from President Cinda Klickna. I am including excerpts from the update: The fiscal analysis of the Rauner tax plan shows why electing Bruce Rauner would have a disastrous effect on public school students in Illinois. If enacted, the Rauner tax plan would leave an $8 billion dollar hole in the state budget. Since education makes up half of the states discretionary budget, that means that $4 billion would be cut from our schools. These cuts would force districts to lay off more than 27,000 teachers statewide, along with support staff. Cutting teachers and staff would mean much bigger class sizes, fewer electives and, in many districts, the end of arts, sports and extracurricular activities. We cant have great schools in Illinois if we are cutting funding at the same time. The Rauner tax plan is a fraud...... This is just a partial excerpt, but it is important information to know.
