I received some very sad news earlier this morning. My best friend from back home Bert Viklund - passed away this morning at Löwenströmska Hospital Hospice near Stockholm after a long period of illness. We grew up together and he and his brother Kurt Viklund are the people who introduced me to meaningful music such as Delta Blues, Bluegrass, Doc Watson. Bert and I grew up in Ursviken a small community about 12 km east of Skellefteå, Sweden. I always looked up to Bert who was one of the most brilliant intellectuals and musicians I have ever known - He was an entomologist from childhood and worked as a senior researcher at the Royal Swedish Museum of Natural History at Stockholm. He discovered several new species of insects that were named after him. I will return with some more memories after a while but for now I am going to remember the most important friend I ever had... RIP my brother.
