Delprete: Tim was a colleague and dear friend of mine. We have known each other since we were graduate students, when we were invited for a project in the Philippines, in 1993. Then a few years went by and we became colleagues at the New York Botanical Garden, and worked together on a big project, and used to go out together in New York, before he met Tatyana. Then we left New York, Tim moved to ODU, and I moved to Brazil then to French Guiana, and we continued to collaborate on the same project. Currently, I am coordinating a special volume of a scientific journal, dedicated to him. There are many colleagues from around the world contributing articles, and we are getting close to publish it. As an introduction to the volume, I am planning to write a short biography about him (3-4 pages). However, although I have known Tim for nearly twenty years, I dont know the details about his early life, as his birth place, birth date, where he went to school, where and when he went to college, the name of his father and mother, and brothers, and other important information. Also, any important of significants anecdotes are very welcome. I wish that you both could help me with this project. I would like, if possible if you could either supply all the data about his early life, or even better, supply a two or three pages on his early life.
