I received the information about the Flavel house today. Sadly, a tad too rich for my blood. =/ It is 4bd, 2.5 bath 4,644sqft, 2.5 stories, built in 1901 and listed on the registry in 1986. Buyer will be required to restore the home. (YAY!! No condos!!) Tours for serious buyers will be the 17th and 18th of January. They cost $100 a person with one contractor, each additional person is another $50. This is done to eliminate the tourist crowd. Starting bid is $180k with a $25k earnest money deposit. After a 30 day period, the top two highest bidders will be notified and the deposit money from the rest of the bidders will be returned to them. The top two then have 14 days to increase their bid, deposit will be returned to the bidder who does not win the house. There are ten pages of information in the pdf I was sent. Most of it is a description of the architecture and construction of the house from the registry. I have to say that Im beyond pleased that restoration is a stipulation of purchase. I cannot wait to see what that house will look like restored to its former glory. I would GLADLY pay the $100 to the new owner for a tour of the after, as Ive already seen the before. If youd like a copy of the information, you can email the conservator Caroline Evans at conservatormlf@gmail re: 627 15th St Astoria,OR.
