I received this email from a member of East Nashville Believes. She reprimands me for welcoming ENU in my comments at the school board last night while ignoring her group when I had no idea who they were. Where have they been for the past three weeks when we have met at numerous East Nashville schools to talk about the issues? I am one of your constituents and was in attendance at the school board meeting last night. I was one of the speakers who addressed the board directly. I appreciated the opportunity to speak, thank you. I just wanted to make sure that you understood the vast majority of the people in the room and in the overflow room and outside in the parking lot are people who live in your district. There was close to a hundred more families who wanted to come but were unable for various reasons (including that the board meeting begin at 5pm which is difficult for working families to attend). I found it interesting you took the time to acknowledge the ENU group when their numbers pale in comparison to the other people in attendance and especially since they clearly did not represent the opinion of the majority of people listening. I would remind you that all those other people in the room vote too.
