I recently asked my workshop attendees How to train your clients most effectively for the Spear Throw? Answer #1 - I do medicine ball throws. Answer #2 - I do football or dowel rod throws. Answer #3 - I JUST DO BURPEES!!! Hilarious comment, but raises an interesting point. From time to time even our top elites fail the Rope Climb, the Monkey Bars, and especially the Spear Throw. So general fitness training is important, and at times, training obstacles can give you a leg up, but one of the most important goals in training for a Spartan Race is to make sure you are BURPEE IMMUNE. No matter how tired you are at the race, 30 Burpees needs to be something you can do with ease and without needing a long time to recover from or without being dropped down a level for the remainder of the race. Were past the flu shot debate, so lets move onto the next health crisis plaguing us - BURPEE IMMUNITY!!!!
