I recently heard the tendency people have to type and post things they would never say out loud face to face referred to as digital courage. I was just reading comments on one of the Vibram articles (btw, I own two pair and absolutely love them) and was utterly disheartened at how self-righteous and ugly, sometimes to the point of downright bullying or cruelty, we humans are when supposedly anonymous behind a keyboard. We talk about wanting human rights for all, standing for universal equality, even world peace. How about we start with a much smaller gesture in the same realm and go for kindness and respect for the possibility that someone may have distinct views? We talk a lot about tolerance as well, a word for which I dont much care as it doesnt seem to imply any real acceptance or sense of welcome and wanting, but I digress. Point being, perhaps we should all check our fingers from time to time and before we hit send ask those fabled questions... Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? ... And now, back to your regularly scheduled browsing.
