I recently lost my beloved pet cat Oneye after fourteen years. Anyone who has had a pet for such a long period of your life can understand what a sad event this is. She was one of six orphaned kittens given to kellie and I to foster. I immediately formed an attachment to this kitten because she was such a fighter. The runt of the litter often climbing over the other kittens to get to the food bowl. She also had a severe eye infection which left her with a partially formed eye and mostly blind in that eye. She was survivor for sure. Oneye was the most naturally well behaved cat I have ever seen, never clawing or scratching the furniture or knocking things over and breaking them. She never begged for food while eating or preparing a meal. In all those years she never made an aggressive gesture towards anyone, not one scratch, errant claw or hiss. She had unique bond with our pet schnauzer and they often wrestled together from the time she was a kitten and the dog a puppy. Occasionally they would curl up together on the couch and take a nap, and she would groom the dogs ears like a mother cat would her kitten. Oneye loved to go for walks and would tag along every day on my walks around the block during my heart surgery recovery. Well there it is, perhaps the first ever facebook posted pet obituary ever. If ever a pet deserved it, it was her. Like all animals, they give us so much and ask nothing in return. DB.
