I recently read a post from Gary Weidenaar that listed his top five favorite pieces. I have always appreciated his taste in choral literature, so I was thrilled to have a list. I was listening to one--Christ Lag in Todes Banden (BWV 4), and it was a delight, and a reminder of what it was like to sing in a choir. 1. Time location 6:15: theres always a clapper. This was performed in Europe, so there was a prompt shusher. 2. Time location 12:35 was my number 1 fear when singing Bach. Not that I am trying to humiliate the offender, but its a good reminder to not get complacent. Those who dont count pay dearly. 3. The comments in the video are critical of the conductors dramatic interpretation. I always felt musicians should double major in Quality Control production--never to worry they would let a detail slip!
