I recently received the following message re Doc Savage from a fellow fan: Dood! I have a great idea which Ive had before but I keep on forgetting it. Since as far as I can tell Doc Savage fandom is in an intellectual holding pattern, why not have volunteers take assigned novels and fill out a list of common questions regarding locations, general plot, villains and their traits, major persons in need of assistance, gadgets, planes, cars, innovative events, clever deductions, and especially how each main character is described or what background info is revealed. Then have a smaller group compile facts and create narratives on the evolution of the Doc Savage world. Basically a Fact Book on everyone and everything so you can find all references to the Hell Diver or learn how Doc changed over time. This would also show how much the novels were made up as they went along, which is fine, too. What he was describing is essentially a concordance of people, places and things (rather than simply words and phrases) related to Doc Savage. This was done for Star Trek back in 1976, back when the canon consisted of only the original 79-episode Star Trek series (1966–1969) and the 22-episode animated series (1973–1974). Accordingly, Ill be proposing such a Doc Savage Concordance along the lines he outlined at Arizona Doc Con XVII (Oct 17–19) and see if I can spark enough interest to get the ball rolling. But not it has occurred to me that this would also a good venue in which to gauge interest in a Doc Savage Concordance. What say you? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_Concordance DND
