I recently suffered an injury that caused me to have a fractured ankle and be out of work for a week. today (one week later) I had a follow up visit which led to the doctor giving me another prescribed week off. some would think that it would be great to have all that time off. the only problem is that my job is less than forgiving when it comes to employees being out sick for very long. in fact their abscense policy pretty much has been exceeded by me at this point. as a result I face the risk of termination unless I can get a leave of absence request approved in time. and because of that I have this nagging worry about wether I will lose my job or not. and that happens with many of us. we fear the unknown. we fear the future that may be. it fills our thoughts. and it can even drive our actions. but in the end we sit there worried about a future that might never even be. we worry about the danger thats around the corner that very likely doesnt even exist. and why?why worry about something that may not be? there is no reason for it. for we have a God who not only knows what is around the corner for us, He has already been there. and He has gone there ahead of us to pave the way for us. He has gone to create a path through whatever lies ahead, so that (come what may) we will be well. it may be a bumpy path at points, but it will always lead to prosperity. there is no future we face that we need to worry about. God has it well in hand. all we need to do is to trust in Him to get us there. and that, whatever happens, we will be just fine. in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. 5 You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.-Psalm 91:1-7(ESV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.-Romans 15:13(ESV) “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.-Jeremiah 17:7(ESV) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.-Jeremiah 29:11(ESV) 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.-Matthew 6:25-34(ESV)
