I recently took a trip to Oregon. I was honored to, along with my uncle, walk my cousin down the aisle and give her away on her wedding day! That was crazy, and I was completely beside myself with how amazing that moment was. How special it was. How it felt like there was something more going on. It really was just a lot of fun too :-) Then I took a trip down to Salem, where I grew up, I found myself with many loved ones. Friends and family members that mean the world to me - some Im close with us, others I could be closer with, and then theres these really incredible people that no matter how long I go without talking with them, we pick up - right where we left off, as though no time had ever gone by. I found myself in a few conversations with different people about religion and God and love and a just God and faith and beliefs and basically how my traditional ideas and beliefs about God and hell have changed. In all those conversations, I never felt like I was accurately conveying how I really felt... Sometimes those conversations can feel like hell, when all you really want to do is live out heaven. All I really wanted to do was let people know that I dont believe any of it is someplace else... I just walked my cousin down the aisle and had the acute feeling that it was good and that I was a part of something so special, something so meaningful, and maybe - just maybe, that was a little piece of heaven. “Heaven is… Here and now, and then, and there... and at hand, and among us, and upon us, and available and... real.” -Rob Bell So as I pack my bag for my trip to Germany, Im looking forward to being in those moments, to saying yes to whats ahead of me, and to staying open and seeing more of this life, this heaven, because I believe its right here, right now.
