I recently went through passport renewal process. While we complain about government and bureaucracy, specially when i see my paycheck, I was impressed on the ease of the process, transparency, and openness of communication (I was able to follow status update via net and track shipment, until it came to my door). Not to mention it cost less than half of what is cost to get a Somali passport minus all the hoops one must jump (I did not have to call inaadeer or drop the friendship card). As a people we need to realize, the government we seek is not that of individuals (Pres, PM, Speaker, MPs, Ministers, Dept. Directors etc), but one of institutions that DELIVER services. This is not to compare apples and oranges but shift our focus from politics to governing and understand: inputs (votes, tax, advocacy etc), process (policy making), and output (service delivery). We get what we ask for and what we deserve. Let us shoot for the moon, if we fall, we may just among stars.
