I remember Kurt Loder coming on to deliver the news that Kurt Cobain had been found dead. In Portland, Bleach was a huge album and Nirvana had a strong presence here long before the global spotlight caused confusion and ripples of frustration through the band. They were a Seattle band but they felt like they could just as easily be our band. He was a symbol of individuality whose music grew out of a weird mix of pop, rock, and feminist attitudes. He was angst, distortion, and change. His death had an impact on me when I was young, it was a where were you when... moment. He took the suckers way out, a junkie who tried to OD a few times before and had jumped the wall at rehab, but he had a destiny he was committed to fulfilling, Its better to burn out, than to fade away. Here is Nirvanas unplugged masterpiece in its entirety recorded in New York, November 18, 1993. Kurt was wrecked with withdrawls and the rehearsals for the show didnt go well, but the band completed this set in a single take and created a masterpiece, one of the best live albums of all time. Forever missed.
