I remember Whiteinch having the best shops ever. There were two banks, The Vanguard dance hall, Milligans the bakers, Maggies fruit shop, Kennedys papershop, Onion Johnny, a Chinese laundrette, The Poles dairy, a jewellers, Galbraiths, Jacks confectioners, the art deco cafe, Todds sweet shop, the butchers, Wilsons grocers, Dicks chippy, Dicks hairdressers, 3 picture halls, Sunday schools, and probably loads of others that Ive forgotten. Who remembers these ? And who remembers sliding doon the bannies and dreapying off the dykes and playing Dead Mans fall, Kick the can, Ring the bell scoosh , ropes, chinese ropes, balls, and making wee shops out of tins and stuff out the middens?
