I remember an instance when I was a kid, and I was trying to - TopicsExpress

I remember an instance when I was a kid, and I was trying to explain which of my friends was Alan Wilkerson to an older sister. I said Hes the guy who lives around the corner, just a couple houses from McNear Park. Nope... He has the older brother, Mike, who hangs out with the guy, Mike Stum, who lives on Twelfth Street? Nothing... Their family has the Greman Shepard, King, who goes by the front of the house and drives Peanuts (our Jack Russell) nuts? Nada... I never did make it clear to her that day who Alan was, and she didnt know until hed come over at some point after that and I introduced him. Many, many years later, she told me that it struck her as telling that it had never even occurred to me to say hes the black kid I hang out with. I wish this video were longer. The people playing the race card are the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world, and the racists, black, white, yellow or red, who thrive on our differences rather than our similarities.
