I remember exactly where we were when we got the call from our social worker. My phone rang and I looked down to see who was calling midday on a Sunday afternoon. I immediately recognized the number and even though I was in the airport restroom, I answered it right away. It was the call of a lifetime!! On the other end I heard, Bridget, your son was just born, can you come pick him up tomorrow? I ran and grabbed your daddy who had no idea yet, and we just stared at each other with huge smiles on our face. A son. Our first born. We jumped back in our plane and headed straight home and then to the store to buy 19 kinds of formula and every size of diaper we could find. We of course didnt sleep a wink that night. The next morning came and we couldnt get to you soon enough. I remember the first time I laid eyes on you. Instant love. A small group surrounded us and prayed over us and away we went with our baby boy. Thank you Kelly for the amazing gift of our boy Lucas. You know you mean the world to us and we have the utmost respect for you. Lucas, our sweet child, happy 12th birthday. You are such a gift from God with a heart to serve. Happiest of Birthdays from mommy and daddy!!!♡♡♡☆☆☆
