I remember giggling the first time the beautiful folks at Spirit Voyage told me that an #album with my name on it was going to be submitted to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for #Grammy consideration. It was 2011, #IAmThine had just come out, I felt like a very small fish in a very big pond, and I had no idea how to even wrap my head around such a concept. In my mind, the people who were contenders for these things were #PopStars & #Rappers, Billboard chart-toppers & artists with extensive radio airplay, known names whose lives & careers Id occasionally read about in a magazine or heard about on a talk show......... but not ME......... My response this time, when learning that #OfHeavenAndEarth is currently a contender (by which I mean: paperwork has been filed, the tracks are making the rounds to people in the Academys selection committee, and theres a 1-in-600 chance it could be in the running in the #NewAge category) was much the same. I still feel like a tiny fish in a vast ocean, far removed from things like nominations and statuettes—and I dont AT ALL mean that as self deprecation or as a value judgment on the music that Ive been a part of creating. On the contrary, I am SO fulfilled by what I get to do, and so proud of whats come out of all our work, our creativity, our time & money & blood & sweat & tears. Each of these albums became something special beyond my wildest imaginings, and I am deeply grateful to have worked with all the incredible people whose incredible talents helped make each project as vibrant as it could possibly be. Which is to say: Anything Grammy-related would be the icing on what is already a very very VERY delicious cake. :) :) Below is a link to Of Heaven & Earth.
