I remember hearing this son when I was in high school. This entire album made an impact on me as a music lover. Lenny Kravitz was so creative. One thing that stood out about this song was the line: The Son of God is in your face Offering us eternal grace If you want it youve got to believe What a profound statement in a rock song right? Later I found out that Lenny would consider himself a follower of Jesus. I will leave any debates about his faith for those who enjoy debate, I do not. I do enjoy truth, hope, and love going out. When Jesus, and his message, is shared I am pumped, even if the method or reason was not of my favored choice. How many more influencers would they church more easily reach, mentor, and counsel if we walked through faith with people. What if the church existed to give people a place to belong before, while, and after they believe? What if, like Jesus, we called people to follow and worked out the details when they did? What if, like Jesus, we called people to radical change in how they think so that they will learn to change how they act? I pray for the creative influencers, the prophets of the masses, like Lenny and others regularly. Some of you who know me will remember my passionate prayer for U2 and Bono...it doesnt seem so ridiculous if you listen to him today. God, teach us to influence the influencers so that your hope and love could reach through them. Teach us, your people, see you in those whom you love just like someone once did when they reached out to us. One day soon, less of the stuff we are concerned about today will actually matter. Soon, we will be closer to the other side than we ever thought possible. Someone reading this may just encounter a life changing moment or life ending moment very soon. Well one day leave this all behind Just put your faith in God And one day youll see it Come on, make the jump! Papa God is waiting.
