I remember once upon a time when as a Canadian, we would walk freely around Europe and most of the world with some kind of canadian flag or insignia on ourselves so people would know the difference of us and the Americans, due to the Americans always disastrous foreign policy and poise of them butting their noses into others affairs. Now, under the conservatives ways of their foreign policy of being the same as the Americans, I now hide the fact for my own safety that I am Canadian overseas. If the western governments (including the canadian and American governments) did not in fact fund the rebels in Syria a couple of years ago (rebels including the founders of ISIS) we would not find ourselves in this mess in the Middle East. Since April 2012, the conservative government through DFAIT has given $5.3 million to fund the Syrian Rebels, including ISIS founders. Looks to me like the dog is now chasing its tail. Obama is saying that it will now take years to defeat ISIS/ISIL.. ISIS is now threatening Canadians, as well as other members of the coalition, whether at home or abroad. On two separate occurrences in the past two years that we know of, including this past week, Afghanistian army members have tried to illegally enter Canada from the United States while in the states on exercises. Thanks to our recent hard stance on an American-like foreign policy, we are not as well liked in the world as we all want to think that we are. Perhaps if the conservatives would realize that we are all not sheep like they think that we are, people would stand up to them. If we had only stepped back and not got involved in this latest Middle East conflict involving ISIS, we wont be in the situation we are in now. Now unfortunately its free game and maybe we arent as safe in our beds as we once thought that we were.
