I remember seeing Bruce and the Range on Valentines Day 1987 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. I was front row balcony and witnessed one of the smoothest performances ever. The band was nearly flawless as they rendered every track from The Way It Is with Steely Dan like precision. Hornsby drew several long standing ovations for his keyboard playing on several tracks including the much forgotten Mandolin Rain. This was a great time for music and most likely the best debut album of the 80s.
