I remember seeing different variations on wildlife crossings in a show called "Wild Thing...I Thing I Love You", starring the brilliant Bill Bailey. Here in Australia wildlife crossing are a very common sight but they usually go under roads which is quite unnatural for most animals. While costlier, I think wildlife overpasses are a much better option and if thoughtfully designed, will enhance what otherwise would be just an ugly road with an ugly bridge spanning it.
