I remember that the little white church that I attended as a boy - TopicsExpress

I remember that the little white church that I attended as a boy threw a Halloween party when I was 6 or 7, and my mother made me a pretty snappy Robin Hood costume. I imagined at the time that I had captured the swagger of Errol Flynn, and I even remember having a quiver full of arrows, (although I dont think I remember having a bow, which was just as well.) I loved that movie so much as a boy, and particularly Flynn. The whole cast was brilliant, but no one more so than Flynn. And I was reminded of all this just now, watching The Adventures of Robin Hood on TCM. It really holds up. In recent years, I have received some genealogical data which is interesting in this context; One of my ancestors was Prince (and King) John of England, (the bad guy in the movie, played by Claude Rains.) He would be forced to sign the Magna Carta some years later, (so I guess he was the original icon of the 1%.) I suppose I should have gone to that party as John. Or at least Claude Rains. But then, I suppose they would have banished me at the end of the party. So Im glad I went as Robin. Besides, I really rocked those green tights.
