I remember the REX theatre in the 80s where my father used to show his films. A theatre that only showed huge blockbuster films started showing films from a local man by the name of Raynald Delerme. I sometimes wonder if he realized how big he was dreaming. He touched a whole generation of people through his storytelling and on camera presence. sitting next to the projector while my father prepared the film, the the audience fills the room. He gauges the room as he jots down a few notes which turned out to be his jokes for the evening. He tells me stay here ill be back then gets on the stage, works the crowd for a few moments then rolls the movie. At the end they rose and applauded his work with cheerful glee. I remember like it was yesterday yet never thought I would be taking up the same challenges he fearlessly faced. I promise to continue living that dream and hope to continue touching lives through the lens.
