I remember this day as well - after postponing the games scheduled for the weekend of September 15, 2001 in a show of respect for the victims of September 11, the National Football League returned to action on September 23, 2001 - the Dallas Cowboys were hosting the San Diego Chargers; and in a scene repeated in every single stadium, our flag was carried onto the field by a player from each home team. The most emotional moment came in Kansas City, which was hosting the New York Giants; from the moment the Giants ran onto the field, the people of Kansas City, the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium, gave them a loud, raucous, and emotional standing ovation.
