I remember this very well. We followed Gary Webbs reporting very closely. It was groundbreaking, he outed the CIA for supplying crack to L.A. and other cities to fund the Contra war. Yes, your CIA actually STARTED the crack epidemic. So, naturally the corporate press ostracized him, and the Mercury News later backed off the story and even retracted it, I think, and demoted Webb, sending him off to some hodunk place. I remember hearing about the suicide - didnt believe it for a second. This should have been the story of the century, and could have resulted in some real changes. But the powers that be couldnt let that happen. I really want to see this movie!!!
