I remember watching Government of India ads since when I was maybe 5 years old, and this was early 80s, before even the Berlin Wall fell. GoI ads are invariably dull and monotone. Some of them were so bad that they made you vomit yesterdays dinner. Infact everytime we watched some truly pathetic video, my first remark was that this has gone Governmentish. For the first time in the history of Indian Civilisation, this Ad gets something right. The music couldve been more edgy and frame transitioning isnt quite perfect, but this ad has a certain degree of focus and clarity of message. And for first iteration its awesome. People believe that ads dont count much, but heres the thing, the legendary aircraft designer Kelly Johnson (The man who built SR-71 and U-2 - Two machines which kept the Cold War cold) wrote that an aircraft which looks beautiful also flies beautifully. In fact Kelly Johnson, Ferdinand Porsche and Steve Jobs always obsessed fanatically on design aesthetics. The enduring legacy of their works and remarkable way theyve influenced all successive designs shows that this fanaticism was probably not misplaced. youtube/watch?v=cMBFq1ZUv6A
