I remember when I was a little girl, perhaps 8 yrs old.(nearly 50yrs ago) my mother suggested we go to the circus. Ringling Brothers was in town (NYC) I remember my excitement....until I got there, I can remember vividly, how upset I was to see how the animals were kept backstage, to see the trainers with the tigers and the elephants, etc, holding whips & other horrid props of torture. I looked at my mother,& said, I want to go home, without a word,she got up, & we left,,,,that, of course was the last time I went to the circus....I truly believe it is one of the things that lead me to a vegan lifestyle so long ago (my joy in life, is my veganism) I also had the privilege of working in the veterinary field for 20 years ....very hard for an animal lover, but so rewarding as well, I miss it so much...truly I adore, all animals. I so wish, that people were more like them. PS Of course I posted this hideous photo, to make the point, that circuss and the way elephants (all animals forced to do tricks like this) are treated, to entertain humans, truly horrifies and disgusts me :(
