I remember when bank robberies were heard about every few years...now it is every few days...get a job! Plains Twp. bank robbed at gunpoint An armed man robbed the First National Community Bank branch in Plains Township on Wednesday afternoon. The man walked into the bank at 27 N. River St. at about 3:25 p.m., approached a teller, showed a black handgun and said “This is no joke; give me all your money,” according to Plains Township police Sgt. Dave Abraham. The teller gave the man cash and he ran out of the bank in the direction of a nearby Burger King restaurant, Abraham said. No one was injured and no other suspects were involved in the crime, he said. The suspect is described as a white male in his early 30s, about 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing blue jeans, a dark hoodie and gloves. Police searched the area, including nearby woods leading toward the Susquehanna River, late Wednesday afternoon. A sign on the door of the bank --- in a busy shopping plaza anchored by a Weis supermarket --- said it was temporarily closed. Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect is asked to call Plains Township police at (570) 829-3432 or dial 911.
