I remember writing to Robert Downey Jr. when he was incarcerated. I dont know if he ever got my letter, but I remember how horrible the press (and public) were to him - most dont seem to realize that addiction is not a choice - and the behaviors of people while under the influence... sometimes they are not fully aware or even conscious of their conduct. I wanted him to know that he had my prayers and support unconditionally - no judgments. I hope others wrote him the same. Anyway, now I would imagine that to stay grounded in this business, he remembers the bad days - and then holds his wife and children and real friends even closer, knowing that all of the rest of it is just a game played with fame and money - and that it can all disappear ad quickly as it came. He is one of the very few people in show business that I admire. ... and this story is just another reminder of why!
