I reserved online through Expedia Travel Services a mid-size vehicle with Thrifty on or about January 24, 2014. The rate I was quoted was $32.01 per day for a three-day rental for a total of $128.80. On January 26, 2014, I arrived in LAX on a flight from China and took a shuttle to Thrifty located at 5440 W. Century Blvd in Los Angeles. I picked up my vehicle and was asked to sign a receipt on an electronic screen. No one asked me if I wanted to purchase any insurance and nobody disclosed to me that there would be other fees assessed in addition to the daily rental fee. On January 29, 2014, I visited the Thrifty office to extend my rental agreement. At the counter, I was told by the gentleman verbally that I could continue to rent the car and told me I could leave. I did not sign anything for an extension. Without my knowledge or authorization, I was charged without my knowledge a change fee of $15.99/day to extend the rental of the vehicle. On Thursday February 6, 2014 I was contacted by Thrifty Security Office demanding that I return the vehicle. The reason I was told to return the car was that my credit card was declined for charges exceeding $1000. I was shocked that my fees were that high for renting the vehicle. I returned the vehicle on the same day I was contacted by security and disputed the miscellaneous charges that had been charged without my authorization. The manager on site, named Tony, refused to remove any fees and displayed a hostile and discourteous demeanor towards me. He said I signed the agreement and that its my word against their word. I was charged $354.07 more than what I had expected to pay. I have sent a demand letter to Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I sent the letter on February 10, 2014.
