I resign: In the past week or so, I have come to the conclusion - TopicsExpress

I resign: In the past week or so, I have come to the conclusion that we may just be doomed to fail. I sincerely hope that I am wrong. Why do I think this? Well, it would seem that the right hand has very little clue about what the left hand is or has been doing - that is my observation. I find that rather odd since this, Canada, is the country in which these horses are slaughtered or one of them anyways - Mexico being the other. I can assure you that many people up here in this rather large country called Canada are quite opposed to horse slaughter for a number of very valid reasons. However, I had some rather startling revelations come to my eyes and ears in the past week. At the very time when all should be uniting forces, it would seem that that is really not the case. My first major disappointment was the shocking discovery that a friend of mine had been asked to resign from the board of the EWA. I could not believe it. Jo-Claire Corcoran is one of the strongest of our allies in this battle against horse slaughter. I have known Jo for quite some time and I have a great deal of respect for this woman. Here, I can say what I like, this is my wall and I have no board to answer to. Should I have a board, I would most likely resign myself. I would resign for the following reasons. I am nobody and yet I have managed to get things done. I wonder and I have wondered for some time, WHY it would seem that the ramifications of any of this has not been utilized to the fullest. I can only speculate on that. For instance - just over 2 years ago, two thoroughbreds by the names of Cactus Cafe and Canuki were released from Richelieu slaughter plant. These were two American horses. Why did that happen? Why did Richelieu subsequently adopt a ban on tbs from their premises? Did anybody think to ask? Did anybody take a good look at that and recognize what that implied? Did they think it was a fluke, that the plant came up with this all on their own or did they even notice? One year prior to that a horse by the name of Deputy Broad was slaughtered at Richelieu. Did anybody notice? Stable to table in 7 days is the saying. Was he even eligible for slaughter? No, he was not. He last raced one week prior to being slaughtered at Richelieu and he last ran at a track that has a no horse to slaughter policy. Deputy Broad was killed the very same day I received the info that he had disappeared - exactly 7 days later and we were too late. How do I know this? Did anyone ask? Were Cactus Cafe and Canuki eligible for slaughter? No, they were not. They are alive today because they were not eligible for slaughter. No one thought to ask about what is the most obvious. Princess Tiffany was slaughtered - she was not eligible either and she tested positive for bute. How do I know that? Backstreet Bully was not eligible - his drug records were clear. Did anybody notice? Silky Shark?? Holly?? No. Did anybody notice?? Those stories on Backstreet Bully and Holly were on the front page of the Toronto Star and yet nobody seems to have noticed the obvious. Cactus Cafe and Canuki were written about frequently in the DRF and nobody noticed the obvious. An expose was done by Global television on 16 x 9 - did anybody notice?? And I could go on but I think you get the idea. Oh, I know many in Canada noticed but I wonder if the most powerful voices in the anti slaughter movement noticed. The reason I ask is because my friend Jo-Claire sat on the board of the EWA and I sent her all this info - she passed it on and never got a response and I believe her. Why do I think that nobody noticed? Well, there was a common denominator here - somebody who is nobody - and not ONCE was I ever contacted. Not ONCE was one single question asked. I was recently asked if I had been in touch with the CHDC though. That said a lot to me. You see, the CHDC was all OVER this - they knew and it was all over their website so somebody in this fight was NOT paying attention to what the others were doing or they would have known, they would have seen the obvious. It was handed to them on a silver platter - for years. I wonder if per chance any of these people read this, if they even know what I am talking about or referring to. However, Alex Atamanenko noticed. I know that because of my communications with him and I know that because he referred to some of these incidents in his speech prior to the first debate. The media also noticed. I know that because I am in contact with them and I will continue to work with them to bring as much public awareness to this subject as possible. I will also work with people like Jo-Claire and the CHDC and others that take notice and understand what it means - those that take what has been handed to them on a silver platter and run with it. As far as some others go - well, I resign - push over Jo, I need room on the bench too.
