I rode a bike down the Rockcliffe hill towards Alliance yesterday - TopicsExpress

I rode a bike down the Rockcliffe hill towards Alliance yesterday and it got me thinking about what the topography of Mount Dennis would have been like before European settlement with roads and bridges and the grid system. On the way back downtown, I took the Weston Road, Rogers Road, Old Weston Road, Davenport route and I was impressed with the junction of aboriginal trails at Carelton. I also thought about the crossing of Black Creek at Weston Road and I wondered what the very first bridge would have been like that was constructed here. I know the railway trestle is a significant structure and is part of the crossing, but what did the Weston Road bridge look like? I noticed that the present bridge at Humber Boulevard was built after Hurricaine Hazel in 1960 and an update was added in 2008. Do we have any photographs or drawings of this significant location in Mount Dennis? I am just curious, since some would place the start of Mount Dennis right there.
