I run a blog and I get asked a lot by musicians, artists, labels, promotional agencies etc.. to post and share their content. Im totally fine with that and I am greateful to help share their content in the hopes it promotes good music/art and helps push the culture forward. Believe it or not, I appreciate all the submissions I receive (even if I dont get around to posting all of it or reply. I do my best with the time that I have). I almost always do most of this sharing/posting for free or at a very minimal, reasonable cost. I seldom ask for anything in return from anyone. However, when I myself create original and unique content, such as the below interview we recently shot with Longwalkshortdock at this years Bass Coast Project, this is what I consider to be my form of expressive art....consider this my painting, my music, my creative design. Ill be honest, I know straight up that this doesnt suck. Im not being cocky or egotisical either, trust me Im my own biggest/worst critic and I know when something I do sucks or when I put out something that is half-assed. Plain and simple...this is a good interview. Even if you could care less about #LWSD, youd be hardpressed not to find the footage & editing captured by the talented Nathan Skillen anything less than impressive. I know we are currently in a culture of oversaturation and all of us receive an overwhelming amout of content flooding our news feeds on a daily basis. However imo, we seem as people to be quick to share articles and videos done by people we have never met or know anything about or have any personal connection too. While Im not taking anything away from the bigger sites like pitchfork, 2dopeboyz, hiphopdx, Vice etc.. or am I claiming anyone owes me anything, it would be super nice if even a small handfull/percentage of all the people (aka some of my friends) who message me to post/share their music and art, would return the favor once and awhile when I put out a quality interview piece as the one below. We do this for you, so if you care about the level of quality and pieces we are pumping out, show us that you care by sharing our content like we do yours... End of rant. I love you all very much! - Spliff Breaks Next up: DJ Nu Mark at Shambhala.
