I said goodbye to my companion of 12 years today, my dog Snow White. She was 15-16 years old (or older) - a rescue so I was never sure about her age. Shed been declining for some time, most of this year, losing all of what made her her. It was such a heartbreaking decision. Snowie was there with me in the dark days of my sickness, when I wasnt sure I could continue, through the move to California 7 years ago when I didnt know a soul, through many jobs, years of relationship then the ending of that relationship. She was there when I realized my life purpose and started my business. She was often the only constant in my tumultuous life. Always there in the background, available for a snuggle or to cry on. She wasnt that bright (& completely untrainable) but was super cute and had the softest fur. She shedded enough to have a make-your-own-dog contest. She had was sweet-natured and loved kids, even those that were clumsy and too rough. She hiked like a trooper, her short legs scrambling up steep terrain, determined to keep up. She had the tiniest paws. She loved to eat. Toward the end I gave her whatever she wanted but in the end she refused even bacon and ice cream. Snowie was a good girl. I miss my Little companion. I will always love you, Snowie!
