I sat on a lawn chair watching the rain from the front porch - TopicsExpress

I sat on a lawn chair watching the rain from the front porch yesterday knowing it had to stop in 5 or 10 minutes - rain that hard never lasts. As it continued I started to notice as piles of leaves, sticks, maple leaf keys, an empty water bottle started to clog the grating of the storm drain on the street and up the street at the next drain. Water started to come onto the sidewalk and then the bottom curve of the wheel covers on my car started to disappear. Wondering how long it could go on I realized there could be a time when the water level would approach the car doors. Was that rubber strip around the edge of the door going to keep the car dry? Changing into swimming trunks, I took off my watch, glasses, sneakers and came downstairs with a towel in hand. I left the towel on the porch and walked out to the sidewalk and curb and was already soaked as I bent down to unclog the grates. Back on the porch I dried off enough to go inside and make some coffee. My big adventure, I felt like a kid. Just the best.
