I saw "The Butler" this weekend, and the one thing that keeps - TopicsExpress

I saw "The Butler" this weekend, and the one thing that keeps coming to my mind about that movie is how important it is to allow our children to think and seek out information for themselves. When they do that we should not see it as a threat to our own opinions but rather an opportunity for good conversations between parent and child. Where an exchange of view points can take place without judgement or ridicule. We want to raise a society of "thinkers". Children who ask questions, seek out information/knowledge rather than swallowing whole what he/she is told to do, say, vote, or act. When a child can function in this world with a true understanding as to why they think the way they do it frees them to function within their world with confidence and security.
