I saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 over the weekend and I - TopicsExpress

I saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 over the weekend and I thought it was great. Its the definitely the darkest installment yet in the series. It deals with some heavy elements but its still very entertaining. I liked the darker tone and thought the story could delve into deeper areas by being darker. All of the acting was really outstanding. Jennifer Lawrence gave an another awesome performance as heroine, Katniss Everdeen. You see her scared, emotional, panicked, and vulnerable here. She shows a lot of depth. Liam Hemsworth was great as Gale, Katniss trusted best friend. Josh Hutcherson really shows a lot of range as Peeta. Hes a very different Peeta here from the previous movies. He has a very different mental state. Woody Harrelson was really funny again as Haymitch. I liked Julianne Moore as President Coin. And Philip Seymour Hoffman really stood out as Plutarch Heavensbee. He was funny and compelling. I still cant believe he died. Its very sad. I was impressed with all of the supporting cast. There were some really great action sequences and cool special effects, too. I also liked the social commentary and political subtext. The movie ends on a very high and intense note. It also sets things right up for Mockingjay Part 2, the conclusion in The Hunger Games saga. I cant wait to see it!! I hope you all get to see this and enjoy it!!
