I saw a headline in The State which referred to a social network dispute between SC State Senator Katrina Shealy (R) and Gov. Haley. I cant access the article, so I went to Sen. Shealys Facebook page. Katrina Frye Shealy April 16 I am so angry!!!!! Today we had our DSS sub-committee hearing and I was going to refrain until the next meeting and we got ALL the information but due to comments beyond my control I feel compelled to talk! At our meeting we let the director have plenty of time to say everything she had on her mind and most of it she spent talking about little Robert G. the 4 year old who was murdered at the hands of his parents after being turned back over from DSS numerous times. That was her choice...she spent about 45 minutes. We then asked questions - nothing that she should not be able to answer. She was given the information in advance. Now we have been accused of picking on her and I have been accused of calling her an atheist??? Really? I asked the Governors staff about a rumor that was going around back months ago in confidence and they told me in a private meeting that director Koller was Jewish - I accepted that answer and that was the end of that conversation and that was the last time I talked about it other than when someone else ask me the question and I told them she was Jewish! Now I am being reprimanded on the Governors Facebook Page saying I am spreading rumors... Someone owes me an apology!!! I care about the children of SC and I dont give a flying flip what the Director is... Well that is not true either, I would worry if she were atheist but I was told she wasnt so why would they bring that back up?? Maybe they need to explain that to me? We had great hearings and brought up a lot of issues regarding problems within the Department of Social Services. We talked about the overload of cases on employees and how the employees felt intimidated to discuss these issues with management. We talked about how the numbers just did not add up with the numbers supplied to us by the Citizens Review Panel. We heard how a Judge made a choice to give a little girl a chance to survive by taking away parental rights but then gave a little 4 year old boy back to his murdering parents (a brother and sister) so he could be beat to death at their hands with a curtain rod. There was so much more and then someone tries to take the attention off all this - all of these important events with a Facebook Slam?? Shame on them!!! I am sorry I bought into your pettiness. My heart is heavy over the number of phone calls I have taken about the wrong thing...Ask me about the children? What is important to South Carolina is how we take care of our Children and families. Until we decide what is important we will never make it better. I propose that we make some serious changes and we start sooner than later. This is not a game but if you want to make it one it will be a much more serious one than before. It will be a War. A War to Save the Children of South Carolina - Lets begin NOW.
