I saw a post this morning (I cant remember who posted it), asking readers about new authors theyve discovered this year. My discoveries were both made at DragonCon - and in fact, discovering new authors is one of the main reasons I love going to DragonCon. Last year my discovery was D.B. Jackson, the incredibly talented author of the Thieftaker historical-fantasy novels, as well as epic fantasy under his real name, David B. Coe. This year at DragonCon I discovered two new authors, both very different from each other. One is James R. Tuck, Dark Urban Fantasy Author, whose novels about Deacon Chalk, Occult Bounty Hunter, are dark and gritty and completely captivating. Think Hard Case Crime but with werewolves, vampires, and other supes. My other discovery was Author Rs Belcher, whose debut novel The Six-Gun Tarot was a genre-bending western steampunk historical-fantasy horror story that kept me up late at night. Heres my review of The Six-Gun Tarot on Goodreads:
