I saw my Rheumatologist today...he confirmed my concerns that the UCTD is advancing and severely affecting the joints in my right hand and other joints in my body. So, in addition to Plaqunil, hes added two more meds to attempt to get this disease under control and prevent further damage. I have to get blood drawn every two weeks to make sure these meds arent damaging my liver. I also saw my neurologist today to follow up on my back surgery. Hes not happy with the amount of pain Ive been experiencing and is sending me for a round of nerve blocks in hopes to prevent further surgery. Ive had an emotional day to say the least....but Im still better off than some who suffer far worse than I could imagine. But I said all of that to say this....You NEVER know what others are going through. You never know all of the pain and often fear that is hidden behind someones smiling face. I used to wonder about people who had Handicap Stickers enabling them the better parking spot when they appeared to be fine. Now Im that person with the handicap sticker, under the age of 43, who has forgotten what it was like to honestly feel, fine. You dont know until youve walked in my shoes and for your sake, I pray you never have to.
