I saw my first film at this years IFFI (International Film - TopicsExpress

I saw my first film at this years IFFI (International Film Festival of India) this afternoon. 3 Coeurs (# Hearts), a French film directed by Benoît Jacquot, seemed to drag along for 106 minutes. I think the same story could have been told pretty much the same in half an hour less time. I found the film a bit unreal in places. Marc, a tax inspector misses his train back to Paris from a small town somewhere in the French countryside. It is late at night and he meets Sylvie on the street. She helps him find a hotel to stay and they talk through the night. She doesnt tell him her name or give him a number but promises to meet him in Paris at a fixed time and place! She is even ready to leave her partner and take up with Marc based on one nights conversation. On the given day, Sylvie turns up in Paris, but Marc cannot meet hr because he is delayed by work, and a heart attack. By the time he turns up, Sylvie has left and then subsequently moves with her partner to the US. Marc decided to go back to the little town, and this time meets Sophie, who is actually Sylvies sister, but he doesnt know it. Sylvie is also unaware that he has met her sister. To cut a long tale short, Marc marries Sophie, and Sylvie turns up at the wedding to find out that Marc is her new brother-in-law. There are numerous instances where Marc could have made the discovery that Sylvie and Sophie are sisters but the film manages to make sure he doesnt!! I wont tell the rest of the story, but let me just say its the good old love triangle. The only thing that kept us watching it was the excellent acting by the main characters, some lovely French countryside and homes, and the hope the film would get better. My husband had one comment to make, The moral of the story is that do not trust tax inspectors!!! :D To catch the trailer of the film, please click on the link below. Note: I am not a professional film critic. and this is my personal opinion.
