I saw several post today with complaints about how Caribou Little League handles it annual Tag Day - i.e. kids camped out at various businesses throughout town. First let me say this - Caribou LL is a strictly volunteer / non profit organization that allows 132 kids in the communities of Caribou, Woodland and Stockholm to play the game of baseball - FREE OF CHARGE. In an era where money rules the roost, we have committed ourselves to never making money an issue for families to participate. Over 70 volunteers give of their time freely - many without kids who play - including myself. Because of this, CLL then uses a few different revenue streams to generate the money it takes to run this League; Tag Day, Concessions, Pass the Hat and the Lions Tournament/Sponsorship. Of all of those, Tag Day is our biggest event - sometimes accounting for 50% of the revenue we will need to run this League. It is expensive to run this League - Charter fees, insurance for players, insurance on property, uniforms, baseball equipment, field supplies and maintenance - and the list goes on and on. My point is before you complain - think about how much good we do for so many without any thought of reward for ourselves - and more than that - think how great it is we offer something positive for kids with absolutely no cost to families. Play ball.
