I saw some grown up youths playing football in front my house today. When I cautioned to stop playing on the street they told me the Lagos State Government has approved street football in the state. When I tried telling them street football is for children they told me Coca Cola supports street football. Lagos State should admit that all recreational venues for the young ones to play have been taken over by buildings. Schools no longer have playing fields, yet they are approved. Open spaces have been converted to markets stalls by local governments. Is it not time we accept that we have used up the land space for recreation and stop encouraging and promoting street football on Sundays or public holidays?
