I saw the latest issue of the North East Sun today, and realized - TopicsExpress

I saw the latest issue of the North East Sun today, and realized that the news-magazine has still been around all these times!! I had written 6-7 reports/articles for this news-magazine, including one cover story, around 2005-6. If there is any improvement-in content, format, reportage-since that time, I miss it entirely. I visited Aizawl in late 2004 and saw just how much lagging Mizoram was, compared with Manipur, in terms of quality of English newspapers. But, if you take out one-days copy of any newspapers of Manipur (TSE, IFP) in 2004 and compare them with todays copy in terms of quality of reportage, editing, opinion, etc., you will be hard-pressed to tell which ones better. After the initial bout of competition, the players all seem to be settling down and dozing off with their own share of advertisement revenue and circulation. Someone should wake them up. And the financially better off, at least, should start paying for published articles. That will improve quality. With the profusion of publishing medium, serious newspapers should now be begging writers, and not the other way round.
